What began as a desire to capture the immensity of a comet on the smallest of found wood scraps began a body of work of catastrophic events; meteorites, asteroids, volcanoes, atomic bombs. Each event is captured on tiny exotic wood offcuts, purchased in bulk on eBay.
The first in the series is titled "Just Kidding," in which a massive pull and push from the micro to the macro of the naturally occurring, but potentially disastrous event of an asteroid limits our human existence to perhaps that of a universal "joke."
The theme of humor more blatantly revered in previous works of literal clown paintings is further boiled down and then turned explosive in this series. Tiny atomic bombs on 1x1 inch wood blocks are to be held and contemplated; an experience of size, dimension, perspective, and the objectification of our existence.
